Key Accountabilities:
- Assist in the loading and unloading of waste bins onto the bin truck.
- Ensure that bins are securely placed and do not pose a safety risk during transportation.
- Help segregate different types of waste materials as per recycling guidelines.
- Ensure that hazardous materials are properly identified and handled according to safety protocols.
- Maintain effective communication with the bin truck driver and the banksman to coordinate the safe movement of the vehicle.
- Follow instructions from the bankman for maneuvering the truck in tight spaces.
- Interact with customers professionally and courteously during the waste collection process.
- Provide assistance and information to customers regarding proper waste disposal practices.
- Conduct basic maintenance checks on waste collection equipment and report any issues to the appropriate authorities.
- Direct the movement of the bin truck, especially in areas with limited visibility or tight spaces.
- Ensure that the surrounding area is clear of pedestrians and obstacles before giving signals to the driver.
- Use standardized hand signals or communication devices to convey instructions to the bin truck driver.
- Maintain clear and concise communication to guide the driver during maneuvers.
- Monitor the area for potential hazards and take corrective actions to prevent accidents.
- Ensure that the bin-truck helper is in a safe position during the loading and unloading process.
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, such as vehicle malfunctions or accidents.
- Know the emergency procedures and coordinate with emergency services if needed.
- Keep records of waste collection activities, noting any incidents, accidents, or issues that may arise.
- Provide feedback to the relevant authorities on the overall efficiency and safety of waste collection operations.
