We are currently seeking a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter to join Panda and support our operations within the waste management sector. As a Mobile Plant Fitter, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of a wide range of mobile and static plant machinery used across a busy waste management site. This includes equipment such as loaders, compactors, conveyors, shredders, balers and picking lines.
This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on diagnostic skills and experience working with hydraulic systems, electrical looms and heavy plant equipment.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday 6:00am to 6:00pm
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on a variety of plant equipment, including loaders, compactors, conveyors, shredders, balers and picking lines.
- Diagnose faults in hydraulic systems and complete timely repairs to minimise downtime.
- Maintain, install and troubleshoot electrical looms, wiring and connections across plant machinery.
- Carry out full mechanical and electrical diagnostics to identify faults and complete effective repairs.
- Keep maintenance records up to date and report on equipment performance, reliability and recurring issues.
- Work closely with operations and engineering teams to support equipment availability and site performance.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures.
- Report hazards, defects or incidents promptly and support a safe working environment.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Mobile Plant Fitter who can work confidently in a busy operational environment. You will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Maintenance Fitter or similar.
- Experience working within waste management, recycling, construction, heavy industry or a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, looms and mechanical components.
- Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
- The ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to breakdowns.
- Familiarity with waste processing machinery, conveyor systems, shredders, balers or compactors would be highly desirable.
- NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or an equivalent qualification would be preferred.
- A proactive attitude with a strong commitment to safety, reliability and continuous improvement.
