The primary function of this role is to manage smaller existing customers while reviewing all new opportunities within the department. The role involves analysing BI data weekly to meet targets, identifying changes or trends in customer spend to reduce turnover risk, and responding quickly to potential revenue loss. It also includes key administrative duties such as LA reporting and bid management.
Key Accountabilities
- Qualify and log all inbound opportunities, aiming to close all lower‑medium value ones and support the CM team with higher value ones.
- Manage low‑medium value processing customers, maintaining quality and encouraging organic growth.
- Create and review trend analysis for all processing customers, following up with customers who have reduced or stopped tipping waste or highlighting increased value for higher‑level account management.
- Manage the processing bid pipeline and complete initial stage tasks such as PQQs and ROIs.
- Manage monthly reporting for Local Authority customers.
- Complete compliance visits on customer sites.
- Support with Social Value events.
- Support the annual price review process.
Areas of Responsibility
- Review the Power BI Management suite weekly, identifying and acting on key shortfalls against targets.
- Manage daily enquiry channels, ensuring timely responses and escalating opportunities to senior managers when appropriate.
- Maintain a monthly pipeline for strategic opportunities within Commercial, overlaid with renewals for existing managed accounts.
- Create and maintain a register of required monthly reporting for all LA customers, submitting data and answering queries.
- Support the team with field‑based work weekly, including client meetings, compliance visits, new and existing customer audits, customer tours, and Social Value events.
Experience and Skills
- Experience in managing accounts and customers.

Qualifications and Knowledge
- Experience in the waste industry is desirable.
- Experience managing customers, accounts and sales is required (minimum 3 years ideally).
- GCSE level in Maths and English will support the communicative and analytical sides of the role.
- Any business management qualification is a bonus.
- A formal qualification or personal interest in sustainability would also support this role significantly.
