The Role
As a Stage Supervisor at Island Studios, you will be a key part of our support team, ensuring the smooth operation of our stages and studios. You will supervise our Stage Hands and serve as a crucial point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met while maintaining our high standards for safety and studio upkeep. This role requires a hands-on approach, strong leadership, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Supervising and delegating tasks to a team of Stage Hands to prepare stages for clients.
- Leading your team by example with excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving.
- Serving as the primary contact for clients and outside contractors, managing deliveries and responding to their needs.
- Monitoring and maintaining stages, including painting, cleaning, and reporting any damage.
- Ensuring stages are always safe and secure, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Operating plant machinery such as forklifts and scissor lifts (training provided).
What You Will Bring to the Role
- Demonstrable experience in a fast-paced customer-facing role, ideally within a creative studio, film/TV production, events, or similar industry.
- Proven ability to manage and lead a team in a challenging, high-pressure environment. You are a natural problem-solver with a forward-thinking attitude.
- You will be a clear, confident communicator with excellent verbal and written skills, effectively liaising with clients, crew, and other staff.
- You are a hardworking and flexible individual who can handle demanding deadlines and multitask effectively, covering the rota and being on call as needed.
- You are aware of potential health and safety breaches and can proactively maintain a safe working environment.
- You have good PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) and are comfortable operating or learning to operate various plant machinery. First Aid and Fire Marshal qualifications are a bonus.
