We are looking for an experienced and proactive Group Tax Specialist to oversee the UK and European tax compliance across the Group, meeting internal and external requirements. The role holder will be working closely with UK businesses (typically, management and finance teams), playing a critical role in ensuring tax efficiency, transparency, and compliance. Role Overview

This role operates within the Panasonic Europe Tax team, which provides a range of tax shared services to Panasonic businesses in the European region. Reporting to the European Tax Manager, the role holder will support the effective management of UK and European corporation tax and VAT for the Panasonic group. The role holder will co-ordinate the provision of UK tax shared services to UK businesses of the Panasonic group, including annual corporation tax compliance, VAT and supporting the UK tax aspects of business, organisational and systems change. This will entail active business partnering with relevant UK management, finance and commercial teams.

In addition, the role holder will develop and communicate group policies relating to the UK tax group, co-ordinate mandatory UK tax interactions between members of the UK tax group where UK tax laws operate on a group-wide basis, and support central UK tax group requirements, including but not limited to Senior Accounting Officer compliance and publication of the annual UK tax policy. The role holder will also prepare / co-ordinate VAT and CT returns for PE BV’s European branches (Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Poland and UK).

How you will become part of the bigger picture:

  • Enable all UK businesses in the Panasonic group to remain tax compliant through submission of group compliance as follows: Support the annual SAO process from notification to reporting.
  • Preparation of supporting documents for all UK companies relating to SAO obligations.
  • Preparation of UK Group relief, GDA allocation, AIA allocation and CIR return. This requires proactively liaising with all UK businesses to request necessary information and prepare returns for review.
  • Support in updating the published UK Group Tax Policy each year.
  • Support in communicating changes in UK tax law and HMRC practice to tax and business stakeholders.

UK Tax compliance and provisioning Key activities:

  • Prepare annual corporation tax returns and computations and ensure timely submission to HMRC (using Alphatax software).
  • Prepare year end tax accounting workings and support year end tax review by external auditors.
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT return (using OneSource).

Tax partnering with UK businesses Key activities:

  • Participate in regular meetings / calls with each UK business to understand forthcoming business developments that may have a tax impact.
  • Provide UK tax support on projects; perform tax analysis and support tax compliance in connection with business, organisational and systems change.
  • Assist with ad hoc tax queries from the business by researching solutions.
  • Assist to resolve potential impact on the business from change of UK tax law.
  • Assist with annual HMRC Business risk review / tax audits as required.

Tax partnering with European businesses – particularly PE BV Key activities:

  • Co-ordinate European CT compliance with consultant support.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns for European branches of PE BV.
  • Other matters as required.

What you will bring to the picture:

Experience, Knowledge and skills:

  • 2 to 3 years of practical UK tax experience.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, particularly Excel (pivot tables/vlookups etc), PowerPoint and Word.
  • SAP knowledge (S4Hana and R3).
  • Ability to operate under time pressure from time to time whilst following due process.
  • Good organisational skills are essential.
  • Strong administration skills.
  • Good communicator – written and verbal as the role requires co-ordination of internal/external parties to meet compliance deadlines.
  • Fluent business English.
  • Alphatax knowledge advantageous.
