Role And Responsibilities

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments on plant equipment, machinery, and facility systems to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

This position uses hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment to diagnose and repair mechanical and equipment issues, responds to maintenance requests, and completes work according to established procedures and safety standards.

The Maintenance Mechanic maintains accurate maintenance records, supports production needs, and helps ensure equipment and facilities remain in reliable working condition.

Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Diagnose machine failures and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Perform machine installations, relocations, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Maintain equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Assist production personnel in minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Facility Maintenance
  • Maintain building systems including HVAC, plumbing, compressed air, lighting, and electrical distribution.
  • Perform facility inspections to identify safety hazards and maintenance needs.
  • Repair walls, doors, flooring, ceilings, windows, docks, and other building components.
  • Coordinate repairs with outside contractors when necessary.
  • Support facility improvement and expansion projects.
  • Mechanical Responsibilities
  • Replace bearings, motors, gearboxes, belts, chains, pumps, valves, cylinders, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform equipment alignments and lubrication.
  • Read mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and machine shop equipment safely.
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Complete scheduled PMs using the company's CMMS system.
  • Document all maintenance work accurately.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and recommend reorder quantities.
  • Identify recurring failures and recommend permanent corrective actions.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Candidates must successfully complete all pre-employment screening requirements, including a background check, physical assessment, and lift test, to ensure the ability to safely perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Three to five years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical maintenance, manufacturing, or facility maintenance preferred.
  • Must pass a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT).
  • Ability to obtain a company issued aerial lift license for all aerial lifts on site lifts.
  • Ability to obtain a company issued PIV license for all PIV's on site lifts.
  • Ability to safely handle, store and dispose hazardous material and chemical waste in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Ability to safely respond to and clean up chemical and hazardous material spills in accordance with established procedures including proper use of PPE, spill kits, SDS information and waste disposal requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, maintenance instructions, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain plant equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements, and PPE standards.
  • Ability to respond to maintenance issues and prioritize repairs based on production needs.

  • Ability to work in confined or difficult-to-access areas when performing maintenance and repairs.
