Are you an experienced learning disability nurse looking for a new challenge within a progressive, experienced & supportive community learning disability team? Your role will be to direct and lead the Learning Disability intensive support element of the LD team, ensuring its work is needs led, evidence based and in line with current legislation, values and service principles providing clinical expertise around challenging behaviour and autism whilst working within the context of a multi-professional framework.

You will carry a caseload of clients with learning disabilities who have the most complex needs, where a very high level of clinical expertise is required to deliver care that will reduce health inequalities for people with challenging behaviour and/or autism and lead in the overall approach to clinical assessments and act as transformational role model/guide to deliver specialist learning disability assessment, intervention & outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct and lead the Learning Disability intensive support element of the LD team, ensuring its work is needs led, evidence based and in line with current legislation, values and service principles, providing clinical expertise around challenging behaviour and autism within a multi-professional framework.
  • Carry a caseload of clients with learning disabilities with the most complex needs, delivering high-level clinical care and leading in clinical assessments and outcomes.
  • Act as a transformational role model/guide to deliver specialist learning disability assessment, intervention and outcomes.
  • Provide expert clinical advice and intervention to people with the most complex challenging behaviour and autism.
  • Contribute to development and provision of training internally to the team and externally across the locality regarding positive behavioural support, challenging behaviour and autism, ensuring design, delivery and rollout of comprehensive training programmes.
  • Develop strategic and developmental partnerships across the locality with local council, statutory and voluntary and third sector organisations, people with learning disabilities and families to promote positive behavioural support and ensure services have necessary skills and competencies.

The team core working hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, incorporating flexibility as required to meet service needs. The team has two bases, Macclesfield and Crewe.
