Domestic Assistants support the Trust in delivering a clean and safe environment for both service users and staff. We are looking for enthusiastic Bank Domestic Assistants to join our Facilities Team across our East Cheshire Sites. Hours are as and when required, and duties will vary. You must be mobile, work as part of a team, and be flexible, covering for annual leave and sickness as needed. Previous experience in a domestic environment is advantageous; if not, training will be provided. The Trust currently supports the Real Living Wage (RLW) hourly rate set by the Living Wage Federation and will apply a pay supplement if the national A4C hourly rate falls below this.

Main Duties

  • Clean all areas in accordance with the NPSA national standards of cleanliness, following the approved CWP cleaning schedule and adjust the work routine if required for the needs of the ward or department.
  • Accountable for cleaning all areas in accordance with COSHH regulations.
  • Collect daily rubbish and take it to the designated area.
  • Washing up mealtime dishes for patients.
  • Open or close buildings as appropriate – only in exceptional circumstances and with prior discussion.
  • Inform porters/security of any security breaches if the building is empty.
  • Order cleaning materials as and when required with your supervisor.
  • Keep all equipment used in connection with duties clean and tidy.
  • Advise the domestic supervisor of any faults on equipment.
  • Provide details of any untoward incident to administrative or senior nursing staff.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Essential: General Education. Hold or be willing to undertake an accredited Level 2 award in cleaning.
  • Desirable: NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning. Food Safety qualification.

Knowledge and Expertise

  • Essential: Ability to accept and prioritise instructions.
  • Desirable: Previous NHS cleaning knowledge would be desirable.

Experience

  • Essential: Good understanding of cleaning services.
  • Desirable: Previous experience in domestic services and/or catering. Previous experience dealing with the public.
