An exciting opportunity to cover a period of adoption leave within the Management Accounts function has arisen. Successful candidates will support the Senior Business & Value Partner, lead in providing accurate & timely financial information for presentation at meetings and to feed into the Trust's position for internal and external reporting. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, resilient and strive for the very best for our Trust and the population we serve. Candidates must have an understanding of the complexities of NHS finances. Strong IT skills, competent in the use of Microsoft Office, great communication skills and a passion to make a difference are essential.

You will be able to offer robust and pro-active advice to non-finance managers. You will be enthusiastic about leading a team to deliver outputs to a high standard within tight deadlines. We are Level 2 accredited as part of the One NHS Finance Towards Excellence Accreditation and we're currently on our journey to achieve level 3. We have recently implemented working day 1 reporting. We have featured as part of the CWP "Big Book of Best Practice" where we have showcased the exciting things we do including Training and Development to the wider organisation, Health and Wellbeing. The Trust offers excellent opportunities for training, development and professional studies. This role will involve remote working/hybrid working however there will be a requirement to work from the office on certain days.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Working with the Senior Finance Business Partners, the post holder will develop and produce information to support accurate and timely monthly performance reports for presentation at service meetings and to feed into the Trust's position for internal and external corporate reporting.

You will:

  • Be a qualified accountant with a proven track record of working collaboratively with senior, multi-disciplinary individuals on both an internal and external basis.
  • Have the ability to analyse and interpret highly complex and highly sensitive data and communicate complex financial analysis and interpretation to non-finance colleagues.
  • Have competency to negotiate and influence staff and overcome barriers to accepting the analysis provided.
  • Gather, produce, interpret and report upon highly complex and sensitive financial and activity information.

Person specification includes:

  • CCAB Qualified (Professional Accountancy qualification)
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Desirable criteria: Recognised management qualification

Knowledge & Expertise:

  • Expert working knowledge of management accounting and budgetary control
  • Ability to produce and interpret detailed trend and variance analysis
  • Knowledge and understanding of end of year statutory accounts requirements
  • Ability to produce and interpret complex financial information
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of costing techniques
  • Proven track record of performance in delivering against tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of the NHS Foundation Trust regime

Experience:

  • Extensive experience of managing and supervising staff within a finance department and creating an environment that will facilitate their ongoing development.
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and financial ledger packages
  • Experience of completion of local, regional and national regulatory returns
  • Extensive management experience
  • Finance experience at a senior level in the NHS or other similar complex environment
  • Experience of providing advice to, and liaising with, managers / staff at all levels, including working with Executive Directors and Senior Clinicians.
