Overview

Clinical Support Worker – East Cheshire (Inpatient). This position is with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, based in Macclesfield or Alderley Edge, England. Band 3 Clinical Support Workers are sought to join existing teams in Macclesfield and Nether Alderley.

Hours: Full time or Part time options available. 37.5 hours per week.

Site: Macclesfield or Alderley Edge. Town: Macclesfield. Salary: £24,937 – £26,598 per annum (pro rata). Salary period: Yearly. Closing: 10/11/2025 23:59.

Responsibilities

  • We are looking for motivated support workers to join the team with a commitment to teamwork and excellent standards of care.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for mental health care with some experience of working with people with mental health conditions or dementia.
  • Contribute to rehabilitation and recovery of service users and engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Provide 24-hour cover with the ability to work a full range of 12-hour shifts, including night shifts and weekends.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team and foster collaborative working with service users, carers and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in training opportunities for clinical development, supervision and appraisal.
  • Assist in inpatient wards which include 24/7 service delivery and potential involvement in various ward settings.

Our Inpatient Services

  • Mulberry Ward – 26-bed acute admissions ward
  • Silk Ward – 15-bed dementia ward
  • Alderley Unit & Saddlebridge Recovery Centre – Low Secure Wards

Main Duties

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care in mental health settings.
  • Provide compassionate, person-centred care and support the rehabilitation and recovery of service users.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and supervision.

Qualifications

Essential criteria:

  • Appropriate Mental Health related NVQ level 2.
  • Will work towards the appropriate mental health related NVQ level 3 in post or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate a range of work procedures with a base level of theoretical knowledge.
  • Completion of or working towards Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2-day training to be completed within 3 months of start date).

Desirable criteria:

  • NVQ qualifications in Health and Social Care or related disciplines.
  • Understanding of confidentiality issues related to mental health policy and practice interventions.
  • Knowledge of current staff development and continuous service improvement issues, particularly in adult mental health services.
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation and policies (desirable).

Experience

  • Essential: Previous experience of providing care in a structured setting; experience of working collaboratively with colleagues, wider teams and service users.
  • Desirable: Previous experience of working with adults with severe mental health needs.
