We are looking for a creative, commercially minded, and highly organised Marketing Executive to join our award-winning Communications team. In this role, you will support the Head of Marketing and the Senior Brand Marketing Manager across their lists, working on standout campaigns for leading Middle Grade and YA brands alongside other areas of the publishing programme as needed. We are proud to publish best‑selling and prize‑winning authors and illustrators including Julia Donaldson, Axel Scheffler, Rod Campbell, Chris Riddell, Frank Cottrell‑Boyce, Frances Hardinge, Tomi Adeyemi and many more. Our creative and experienced communications team sits at the heart of the business, collaborating closely with UK and international sales teams, the editorial and design teams, authors, agents and partners. As Marketing Executive you will work closely with the Head of Marketing and the Senior Brand Marketing Manager to plan and execute a range of backlist and brand‑building campaigns for leading Middle Grade and YA authors and brands including InvestiGators, Marcus Rashford, Lennry Henry, MG Leonard, Tomi Adeyemi, Liz Pichon and more.
Your key responsibilities:
- Campaign management – plan and implement audience‑focused, creative and effective campaigns for a wide range of brands in our Fiction and Non‑Fiction divisions, including First Ink, Rocket Fox and graphic novels.
- Content creation – write compelling, eye‑catching copy for a variety of marketing purposes, including book proofs, social content, advertising and more.
- Cross‑functional collaboration – work closely with digital, trade marketing and publicity colleagues to ensure integrated campaign delivery.
- Stakeholder communication – communicate plans to internal and external stakeholders including sales and editorial colleagues, brand owners and licensees.
- Digital and social media – manage social media content across multiple platforms and brief digital advertising.
- Asset briefing – liaise with designers to create high‑impact marketing assets and materials.
- Agency & influencer partnerships – coordinate campaign activity with media agencies and build relationships with influencers to amplify our titles across key platforms.
Essential experience, abilities, knowledge and values you’ll need to succeed:
- Industry knowledge – demonstrable passion for children’s books and the publishing industry, with particular interest in MCB’s Fiction and Non‑Fiction divisions, including graphic novels and our First Ink and Rocket Fox imprints.
- Marketing foundation – experience working in a busy marketing team, either within or outside of the publishing industry.
- Clear and effective communication – strong written and spoken communication skills, sharing information reliably and professionally.
- Creativity – a mindset that generates fresh, innovative ideas that drive engagement.
- Innovation and efficiency – a forward‑thinking approach to publishing, open to exploring new tools and technologies such as AI to improve workflows.
- Software/tools – experience with MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Workspace, Canva and Biblio.
