Overview

Priddy Books was founded twenty-five years ago. Since then, we have sold millions of books around the world – including the bestselling series First 100 Words and See, Touch, Feel.

This is a fixed-term opportunity for an experienced designer who enjoys creating innovative novelty books with flaps, pops, sounds, and the newest novelty trends. We are seeking someone who understands the minds of discerning customers – babies and toddlers.

As one of the Senior Designers in our small creative team, you will be responsible for the creation of multiple books across each publishing season, covering all stages from idea conception to print-ready PDFs. You will be confident in the technical aspects of creating novelty books and will work closely with the production team.

We are looking for creative applications – anything that can demonstrate what you will bring to the team!

Your role

Reporting to the Creative Director, the Senior Designer is a key role in the creative team. We are a small team and you will work independently, managing multiple projects alongside an editor, as well as supporting more junior designers in the team.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the ability to multi-task, as you will be working on several books at once, fulfilling all aspects of the creation process including making sales materials, briefing illustrators, and mocking up spreads. A can-do attitude is required, and you must be organised, have excellent written English skills and demonstrate that you can work well with others. In this crowded market, we need someone who is commercially minded and willing to pitch new ideas for our already established list.

Key tasks of the role

  • Coming up with new book ideas and fresh design approaches
  • Designing multiple books from start to finish
  • Briefing illustrators
  • Working with editors to manage the timely delivery of projects
  • Working with production to supply flawless print-ready PDFs

Qualifications and skills

  • Technologically proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Experience in creating products with novelty elements
  • Organised and able to juggle multiple tasks at once
  • Excellent written English
  • A demonstrable interest in preschool publishing
  • Exceptional attention to detail

Desirable skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to think outside the box
  • Experience in organising photoshoots

All applicants must be able to demonstrate the right to live and work in the UK in order to be considered for this role.

Salary range: £39,000 onwards

Closing date: 28 September 2025

Benefits

  • 28 days’ annual leave increasing with years of service + bank holidays
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Discounted private medical insurance
  • Group income protection scheme
  • Enhanced family pay and leave
  • Flexible working hours and summer hours (early finish on a Friday during summer months)
  • 2 Volunteer Days per year
  • 75% off all Pan Macmillan books and regular staff book sales
  • Season ticket loan/advance
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Discounts on shopping, Tastecard+ and gym memberships; Christmas club savings
  • Daily free breakfast and monthly company lunch
