We have an exciting opportunity for a conscientious Communications Assistant to join our dynamic Communications team within Macmillan Children’s Books. You will play an essential support role across all communications functions and across a wide range of titles, from pre-school to young adult and crossover.
Your team: Macmillan Children’s Books is one of the UK’s leading children’s publishers, creating and publishing absorbing and exciting stories for children of all ages for over 150 years. We are proud to publish best-selling and prize-winning authors and illustrators including Julia Donaldson, Axel Scheffler, Rod Campbell, Chris Riddell, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Frances Hardinge, Tomi Adeyemi and many more. Our creative and experienced communications team sits at the heart of the business, collaborating closely with UK and international sales teams, the editorial and design teams, authors, agents and partners. We champion a culture of collaboration and innovation to deliver best-in-class campaigns that get all children reading.
Your role: As the Communications Assistant, you will support the Communications Director to ensure efficient operations within the MCB Communications team.
Your key responsibilities:
- Assist in organising team meetings and taking minutes.
- Facilitate the marketing creative approval process.
- Support with author and illustrator presentations.
- Support with mailings, donations, digital book proofs and office management.
- Serve as a point of contact for authors and publicists.
- Coordinate MCB book award submissions.
- Manage social media inboxes and engage with brand accounts.
- Assist in tracking budgets and processing invoices.
Essential experience, abilities and knowledge you’ll need to succeed:
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exceptional time management and organisational abilities.
- Experience in an office-based setting.
Desirable skills we’d love you to have:
- A passion for children’s books and/or media.
- The ability to solve problems practically and work collaboratively within a team.
