We are seeking an audiobook enthusiast to join our award-winning Audio team and support the audio production of a diverse and critically acclaimed author list. This entry-level role is for someone who excels at organisation, loves audiobooks, and will work collaboratively within a close-knit team balancing the demands of an ever-evolving publication schedule.

You will be part of the dynamic and collaborative Audio team, which has a successful track record of producing bestselling audiobooks. You’ll be working across all imprints at Pan Macmillan, so every day will bring new author delights.

The Audio Editorial Assistant is an essential part of the Audio team, who will support the team and navigate all areas of the publishing process.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Audio team to ensure the smooth running of the audio schedule, including ensuring all information on company systems is accurate and ensuring key performance indicators such as compliance, critical path, and overall quality are met.
  • Checking audio file deliveries from audio production companies and freelancers and ensuring they comply with distribution requirements, and are loaded onto our distribution system and ready for distribution.
  • Supporting the Audio Publisher and the Audio team with publishing development projects, including those related to AI assisted audiobook production.
  • Work alongside the Assistant Audio Editor to ensure the process of buying in master recordings from Third Party Publishers remains on schedule, meets all key performance indicators, and adheres to compliance standards.
  • Working closely with our Library Partner to ensure they have all relevant information and files in line with their schedule.
  • Working closely with companies within the Macmillan Global Group to ensure they have all relevant information and files in line with their schedules.
  • Liaising with the Communications team to create assets for digital marketing, web partnerships, and promotional campaigns.
  • Supporting the Sales team with accurate bibliographic and production information to maximize retail opportunities and market visibility.

Essential experience and knowledge you’ll need to succeed:

  • A proven interest in the audiobook market and a demonstrable knowledge of Pan Macmillan’s audio list, including an understanding of current trends and the competitive landscape.
  • Excellent administration and multi-tasking skills, with a track record of managing several projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring all projects are handled with reliability and transparency.
  • The ability to work effectively within a small, core team while proactively engaging with the wider company and external partners to foster a supportive and inclusive professional network.
  • Experience working with systems and tools such as MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Workspace, Biblio and Reaper.
  • A proactive approach to exploring new technologies (such as AI, especially Google Gemini), production techniques, and industry trends, which drives continuous improvement.
  • An active dedication to promoting diverse voices and inclusive practices, taking personal responsibility for ensuring our workplace and publishing reflect the communities we serve.

This is a full time, permanent role, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.
