About Paloma
Paloma’s mission is to make children’s autism and ADHD assessments and care available on the NHS within 4 weeks of GP referral. We are making this possible by setting a new standard for high-quality autism and ADHD care, building great software & AI tools, and investing in clinicians' learning & development. We have grown a fantastic team of 120 people, of whom over 80 are clinicians supporting families through their assessment journey. To meet the needs of families, we are recruiting over 100 more people over the next 12 months. We have raised £5m pre-seed funding from leading healthcare investors (Triple Point Ventures and Heal Capital), helping us to invest in our technology and our team. We have achieved financial sustainability.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a commercially astute and data-driven Finance & BI Lead to partner with our co-founders (our CEO and Exec Chair) and lead Paloma’s Finance & BI function through our current rapid growth. You will build a first-principles financial understanding of our organisation to support our functional leaders in achieving their goals and budgets, and partner with our co-founders to create those budgets and report to our Board and investors. You will lead our BI team, ensuring robust internal and external reporting to our NHS partners. You will line manage a team of three: a Central Operations Associate, a Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst, and a BI Associate, and take on management of our outsourced accountant. This role offers unique finance & BI leadership responsibilities that will directly impact our ability to reduce autism and ADHD wait times for families. With success in the role, you can progress to our Head of Finance & BI.
About you
You are someone who loves high-growth situations, where you can make a positive difference in the world. From a skills perspective, you are:
- A curious and proactive self-starter who seeks to understand concepts deeply and continuously improve processes.
- A fast learner with strong problem-solving skills and financial acumen, able to work independently with minimal direction.
- An effective communicator and stakeholder manager, skilled at building strong relationships and influencing outcomes.
- Detail-oriented and 100% accuracy-focused.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and at pace – the problem may not always be clearly defined, but you are able to identify what will add value and then deliver solutions.
Responsibilities
Within Finance:
- Stakeholder partnership: Build strong relationships with senior managers, understand their functions, and become a trusted advisor.
- Insight generation: Interpret complex data sources to produce meaningful business insights. You won’t just report the ‘what’; you will explain the ‘why’ and the ‘what next?’
- Business cases: Evaluate efficiency initiatives and commercial opportunities with a targeted focus on driving ROI.
- Forecasting/Budgeting: Partnering with our co-founders and VP Operations, generate reliable, data-driven forecasts whilst proactively challenging assumptions.
- Formal reporting: Lead the month-end and year-end process in partnership with our outsourced accountant, ensuring a high level of accuracy and helping the Exec and Board understand their performance through data.
- Cash management, payments and forecasting: Lead on our cash management and payments, including payroll and suppliers.
Within BI:
- Setup: Partner with our VP of Engineering to ensure robust data pipelines from our Data Warehouse.
- Internal reporting: Support all functions with commercial and operational data.
- External reporting: Ensure Paloma delivers all NHS reporting on time to a high standard.
Overall:
- Mentoring: Support in the coaching and development of your team, providing direction and leadership to them in their career development.
- Continuous Improvement: Being an advocate for challenging the status quo, relishing the challenge of optimising workflows and creative in your approach to maximising time spent on value-add topics.
Qualifications and experience
Required:
- A qualified accountant with 3 years of post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience in a fast-paced environment managing simultaneous deadlines.
- Demonstrated business impact, for example, coaching leaders to achieve budgets.
- An aptitude for managing large/complex datasets – a good working knowledge of Google Workspace tools is required, whilst SQL exposure would be advantageous.
- The independent right to work in the UK, as we’re unfortunately unable to provide sponsorship at this time.
- Experience in tech-enabled healthcare services.
Benefits
