Palmers Garden Centre is part of the Palmers Group, a well-established, family-run business based in Yeovil. Our on-site restaurant is a busy and welcoming destination for customers, offering a fresh and seasonal menu. We’re passionate about delivering excellent food and service—and we’re looking for a talented Head Chef to join our team.

About the role

As Head Chef, you\’ll take ownership of the kitchen, overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring the preparation of high-quality meals. You’ll have creative input into the menu and work to ensure efficiency, consistency, and food safety at all times.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage all aspects of food production, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff
  • Develop and plan seasonal menus aligned with our brand and customer base, and be able to provide costing breakdowns to management.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Maintain stock levels, place orders, and manage inventory
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean, well-organised, and all equipment is maintained
  • Contribute to recipe development and innovation
  • Monitor and manage GP of the kitchen.

About you

  • Experience in kitchen leadership
  • Proven experience in supervising a team
  • Strong understanding of food safety practices and kitchen operations
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Experience of managing and delivering excellent financial results
