The Palm Group, with 4,800 employees, is a leading supplier in Europe of newsprint and corrugated base paper made from 100% recycled paper as well as corrugated, cardboard packaging. Palm Paper Limited (PM7) is the UK site for the Palm Group based in King’s Lynn, manufacturing graphic papers. PM7 is the widest, largest and most powerful newsprint machine in the world with the capacity to produce 400,000 metric tonnes of newsprint, improved newsprint and magazine grades per annum.
About the Apprenticeship
- A 3 year programme, achieving a Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician qualification with a mechanical bias
- Working on site Monday to Friday
- Attend College of West Anglia in King’s Lynn once a week
- Progress into a junior engineer position
- Starting in summer 2026
About you
- Excellent communication skills, well organised and motivated to independent studies
- A minimum of English and Maths GCSE grade 9-4 / A*-C
- Be living and eligible to work in the UK
- Good IT Skills, in particular MS Office applications
- Interest in mechanical theory and practical application
What will you learn:
- Condition monitoring of process equipment
- Routine maintenance of a variety of mechanical equipment (pumps, gearboxes, agitators)
- Gain knowledge about lubrication, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Develop diagnostic skills for troubleshooting and fault finding
- Gain knowledge of engineering theories and principles
- Understand the maintenance and operational practices as well as site procedures and policies around working safely
