Palm Paper Limited (PM7) is the UK site for the Palm Group based in King’s Lynn, manufacturing graphic papers. PM7 is the widest, largest and most powerful newsprint machine in the world with the capacity to produce 400,000 metric tonnes of newsprint, improved newsprint and magazine grades per annum.
Palm Recycling Limited also based at PM7 is responsible for suppling Palm Paper Limited with the required waste paper. Carrying out collections and recycling services for the public sector and for commercial clients.
Production, sales, logistics and finance functions for both Palm Paper Limited and Palm Recycling Limited is all based in King’s Lynn.

Job overview
The job holder is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) and Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), plus all associated water systems to ensure optimal performance that supports efficient mill operations. This role involves operating, monitoring, limited maintenance, and troubleshooting of CHP and ETP systems to maximise energy efficiency and reduce energy costs and downtime whilst meeting all the conditions in the mill environmental operating permit.
Essential knowledge, skills and experiences required:
- GCSE or equivalent C/4 grade in Maths and English.
- An ability to operate relevant machinery and to comply with health and safety regulations
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve under pressure, and communicate effectively.
Desirable knowledge, skills and experiences required:
- Experience in CHP plant operations, power generation, or steam boiler operations, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC, City & Guilds) in mechanical, electrical, or process engineering.
- BOAS (Boiler Operator Accreditation Scheme) certification is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of control systems (DCS) and plant instrumentation.
- Strong understanding of energy and the desire to optimise energy consumption and costs.
- Experience with data and process analysis
- Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, including PUWER, LOLER, and COSHH.
- Crane and mobile plant licenses.
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)
Hours: 40 hours per week, continuous shift pattern, 24/7/365, annualised contract. Rotating 8 hour shifts, 6 days on, 4 days off shift rota. Between approx. June – September each shift changes to a 12 hour shift rota with each shift receiving 18 days off, rotating 4 days on, 4 days off shift rota
Salary: £TBC Per Annum (depending on experience)
Reporting to: Shift Supervisor
- Annual leave of 25 days per annum plus bank holidays, increasing by 1 day every third year to a maximum of 30 days per annum plus bank holidays
