Palletways are looking to appoint a Night Operations Health and Safety Manager to join the Night Operations Team reporting to the General Manager, Night Hub Operations with a dotted line to the UK SHEQ Manager. Based at Lichfield, working permanent nights, the purpose of the role is to support the General Manager, Night Hub Operations in all matters of Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality.

Working within the busy night Hub Operation, the main responsibilities of the role incumbent include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring the accuracy and quality of palletised goods being received
  • Assisting in employee Health & Safety training, development, and engagement
  • Undertaking risk assessments and/or audits to identify potential risks with the aim of preventing incidents occurring
  • Encouraging the safe attitudes and behaviours of staff and visiting drivers
  • Reporting on hazards and near-misses and completing accident investigations
  • Undertaking and/or assisting with the monitoring of and reporting of SHEQ performance
  • Implementing and maintaining the Company’s respective ISO 9001 Quality and ISO 14001 Environmental accreditations and 45001 health and safety management accreditation

Candidates will need to demonstrate practical experience of improving health and safety in the workplace and will ideally hold (or be working towards) a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety or an IOSH Managing Safety Certificate. Experience in working in a fast-paced warehousing and logistical environment is desirable along with good written and verbal communication skills. The possession of IT skills to include experience of using MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint is a fundamental and essential requirement of the role.
