Job Description
Contributing to the success of the Transport team, you will be responsible for the day to day planning of the transport operation, through the efficient planning of the transport operation.
Working hours: Sunday to Thursday lates,
Key Duties of a Transport Planner
- Ensure effective communication is maintained within the business ensuring teamwork is always strong and collaborative.
- Ensuring driver team arrive for work on time and arrange cover for absences when required.
- Correct utilisation of staff and vehicles using the company diary sheet/planner
- To route all vehicles available generating revenue and solid route plans to ensure that routes are both achievable and vehicles are used to best efficiency, maintaining, and updating any amendments throughout the day so the information is live for all to access.
- To ensure key duties are completed without fail, for example, postcode checker.
- Analysing delivery data to ensure the relevant KPIs and revenue targets are achieved on each vehicle.
- Arrange and oversee loading/pre-loading activity to ensure a timely despatch.
- To work with the TPN team to ensure the depot is both efficient and profitable and reviewing synergies to enhance this
- Deal with drivers queries appropriately, and ensuring drivers collections and deliveries are completed to schedule including undertaking driver (de)briefing.
- Deal with customer queries and complaints effectively, ensuring that goodwill is maintained.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with our customers, other TPN depots and our staff within Eezehaul.
- To accurately prepare administration within set timeframes required
- Ensure all systems are kept updated including accurate data entry, POD management.
- To answer the telephones in a timely and appropriate manner
- To carry out other tasks that may be required for the company from time to time.
- Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to Analysis and continual improvement of service delivery KPIs
Qualifications
- Previous transport operational experience.
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Proficient in computer literacy including Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Work and Outlook.
- CPC Desirable but not required.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to succeed in a pressurised environment.
- Customer focus on delivery performance.
- Commercially and Financially astute and driven to deliver exceptional results.
- Experience of using a TMS system.
- Experience in an FMCG environment.
- Strong analytical and excel capability across standard formulas.
