This Opportunity
The Sustainable Infrastructure team, part of the broader Economic Growth & Natural Capital portfolio based in Palladium’s Americas region, partners with mining companies to design and implement positive impact programs—such as workforce skilling, reforestation, and sustainable agriculture—that benefit mining communities and regions.
The team works across the entire mining life cycle, helping clients achieve ESG targets while building the foundation for community resilience beyond mine closure. The team draws on expertise from the wider portfolio, which also works with private sector clients as well as philanthropic bodies and diverse donors (IDB, USDA, AFD, WB) to support agricultural value chain development, enhance women’s access to finance, and mobilize capital for climate‑positive initiatives. Overall, the business seeks to unlock and scale innovative solutions that drive inclusive growth and deliver sustainable value for communities.
Senior Manager, Sustainable Infrastructure – Environment
Lead team management and provide technical expertise across business development and project delivery in environmental risk management, impact strategy, and implementation, particularly within mining, infrastructure, climate, and nature‑based solutions. The role requires strong expertise in environmental risks in mining, including experience designing and implementing environmental management plans, and overseeing biodiversity, decarbonization, major hazards, tailings, waste, water, air, and rehabilitation initiatives. Candidates should have experience in the closure phase of the asset lifecycle, including post‑mining land use planning and program design, and demonstrate a track record of working with diverse mining clients in North America. The position also supports business development efforts such as strategic planning, pipeline forecasting, proposal development, partnerships, networking, and recruitment.
Fluency in English and one additional language—French, Spanish, or Portuguese—is required.
Location
The position can be based out of Palladium’s London office. Applicants must have current or future work authorization in the UK, as visa sponsorship cannot be provided.

Reporting Lines
- This role reports to the Director, Sustainable Infrastructure (UK based)
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high‑quality, client‑focused results across complex assignments
- Oversee proposal development, budgeting, project planning, implementation, and reporting to ensure timely and effective delivery
- Identify, engage, and manage partners and subcontractors to strengthen technical quality and delivery capacity
- Manage partner and subcontractor performance to ensure contractually compliant delivery of agreed inputs, outputs, and outcomes
- Serve as Project Director, providing quality assurance for deliverables and oversight of budgets, client relationships, and overall project performance
Business Development
- Contribute to the identification, assessment, and pursuit of new business opportunities with a focus on opening business with new clients and broadening Palladium’s work in the closure and environmental performance space and ability to leverage their own network activating new client portfolios quickly
- Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals principally targeting private sector and blended finance opportunities with mining sector clients (focus on impact program design and implementation, work with standards‑setting bodies to enhance community resilience requirements, closure and post‑mining land use engagements, and integrated environmental risk and management support, etc.)
Technical Work
- Work with the team to develop short‑term inputs and/or consultancy assignments on topics such as environmental risk management, biodiversity, decarbonization, major hazards, tailings, waste, water, air quality, rehabilitation, regional economic development, climate finance, and nature‑based solutions
- Lead technical input into the design, planning and delivery of environmental and socioeconomic impact initiatives driven by mining companies, including the development and implementation of environmental management plans and systems that also engage private sector, impact funders, or development organizations to co‑invest in positive impact
- Contribute to research, analysis and publication of technical reports, case studies, policy/program approaches, and results summaries on themes related to environmental risk, community resilience, regional economic development, post‑mining land use, closure, rehabilitation, and social and just transition in emerging markets
- Help to identify, build, and maintain relationships with partners and consultants that can provide environmental and technical expertise to Palladium‑managed projects
- Stay current on trends and tendencies in the mining sector and track structural, governance and ESG target changes for key clients, including evolving expectations on biodiversity, decarbonization, tailings, waste, water and closure
- Work with others in the EGNC portfolio to promote and build Palladium’s technical capability, especially regarding integrated environmental and socioeconomic work with mining companies
- 7+ years of senior‑level experience in a client‑facing management role on large, private/public sector projects, especially relating to mining industry, environmental management, closure, and/or ESG implementation with exposure to climate, nature‑based solutions or regional economic development
- 5+ years working directly with mining companies as clients
- Fluency in English and at least one other language, in either French, Spanish, or Portuguese
- Masters in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Economics, Anthropology, Sociology, Business Administration, International Development, Politics or related discipline preferred
- Strong networks in the mining and minerals sector
- Preference for experience managing teams across geographies and cultures
- Proven experience in or on emerging market issues and/or contexts
- Strong environmental background, including understanding of environmental risks in the mining context and demonstrated experience leading the design and implementation of environmental management plans and/or managing biodiversity, decarbonization, major hazards, tailings, waste, water, air, and rehabilitation efforts
- In‑house experience working for a mining company preferred
Core Abilities Required
- Strong ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and/or complex projects/assignments as demonstrated by experience to date
- Excellent written and oral communication skills as demonstrated by speaking engagements and/or written documents produced
- Financial acumen and the ability to generate and analyze financial reports and forecasts using Excel

- Experience implementing post‑mining land use programmes and working in the closure and rehabilitation phase of the asset life cycle
- Experience engaging multisector stakeholders in mining communities and regions
- Proven ability to apply and adapt models and approaches to catalyze enduring and inclusive environmental and socioeconomic outcomes in emerging markets
- Experience with conceptualizing and writing technical proposals and reports for private sector clients as well as international donors, including both PowerPoint and written deliverables
- Experience with conceptualizing and delivering presentations to small and large groups both in‑person and virtually
