About the Practice

The Pall Mall Surgery has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis for 15 hours per week, working Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8am-1pm. The receptionist plays a pivotal role in the patient experience at our practice, assisting with access to services and handling queries face‑to‑face, online, and by telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and directing patients.
  • Supporting the triage doctor.
  • Making appointments.
  • Answering queries from patients and outside agencies, and signposting to the appropriate staff.
  • Handling prescriptions, letters, completed forms, and specimen bottles.
  • Advising patients on practice procedures.
  • Registering new patients.

The practice boasts a wealth of experience from GPs, physician associates, nurse practitioners, frailty team, ECPs, nurses, associate practitioners, HCAs, and phlebotomists. Our dedicated administration team works closely with our clinical staff to provide excellent patient care in a supportive environment. We value ideas and foster an inclusive, enjoyable, and fulfilling work atmosphere. We operate a total triage system to ensure quick decisions about patient care, providing face‑to‑face (15‑minute) appointments and telephone consultations (10 minutes).

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients and colleagues at all times.
  • Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong IT and administration skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.

Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues. All applicants should ensure that they live within reasonable commuting distance.
