Overview
The Regional Commercial Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering sustainable revenue growth, strengthening member relationships, and driving commercial excellence across their region. This is a hands-on, strategically focused role responsible for developing new business, supporting existing members, and ensuring high commercial standards across the Pall-Ex network. Acting as the key link between the network, corporate requirements, and member performance, the Regional Commercial Manager operates with autonomy, commercial acumen, and a strong customer-first mindset.
Commercial Growth & Business Development
- Deliver regional sales targets through a blend of new business development and strategic account management.
- Identify, qualify, and convert new opportunities within the region, ensuring alignment with network capacity and capability.
- Support members with targeted commercial activity, including pricing, tender support, customer meetings and onboarding.
- Build and maintain a healthy commercial pipeline, accurately forecasting volumes.
- Prepare and deliver commercially compelling proposals and presentations.
- Support members and customers with access to the Groupβs wider 3PL solutions, including warehousing, fulfilment, and value-added services.
- Promote and facilitate the international offering across Europe and global lanes.
Member Engagement & Relationship Management
- Act as the primary commercial contact for all members within the region, offering guidance, support, and insight.
- Conduct regular member reviews, identifying opportunities for growth, improvement, and collaboration.
- Support members with service issues, contractual queries, and escalation management.
- Encourage best practice across the network, ensuring consistency in service, communication, and commercial approach.
- Promote the value of national accounts, supporting integration and ongoing management.
Operational Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations to ensure network capability aligns with commercial commitments.
- Identify pinch points, capacity challenges, and service constraints.
- Support the regional balancing of freight profiles, improving pallet mix and cost-to-serve performance.
- Attend regional and national hub meetings, representing the commercial view.
Data, Reporting & Insight
- Analyse regional performance using internal pallet profiling tools.
- Provide insights into regional challenges, trends, and opportunities.
- Track performance of new accounts to ensure smooth onboarding, early problem identification, and retention.
- Maintain accurate CRM data, including pipeline, activities, and forecasts.
Customer Experience & Retention
- Lead customer-facing meetings, representing the network professionally and credibly.
- Conduct site visits and service reviews to understand customer requirements and challenges.
- Ensure seamless onboarding of new accounts.
- Proactively address retention risks, service concerns, and member-related issues.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a commercial, sales, or business development role β ideally within transport, logistics, or a similar B2B environment.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Excellent understanding of pricing, customer profiling, and commercial negotiation.
- Experience preparing proposals, tenders, and presentations.
- Analytical mindset with confidence in interpreting data, producing insights, and making commercially informed decisions.
- Ability to work independently, manage a large region, and prioritise effectively.
- Comfortable engaging with both operational stakeholders and senior leadership.
