In this role, you will have the opportunity to ensure that existing manufacturing processes are optimal and any issues are resolved with permanent counter measures applied. Identify and develop all production, assembly & test processes and procedures, ensuring products are produced in the most economical manner. Design and manufacture tooling and fixtures to aid and improve manufacturing processes. Assume the responsibilities for safe operating implementation for changed processes, including the development of written procedures. Support new product introduction by identifying appropriate and effective methods of manufacturing, whilst liaising with Design Engineering in relation to prototype and development to deliver projects on time. Ensure all relative routings - SOPs, fixtures, tooling, procedures, processes, etc. are in place for manufacturing.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Mechanical/Production/Mechatronic Engineering.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering principles and practices, coupled with understanding of assembly, machining and fabrication techniques and limitations.
- A minimum of three years’ experience of hands-on production/manufacturing engineering, including the use of 3D modelling software and CAD, familiarity with CNC machinery, assembly of complex parts and small machine/equipment design.
- Knowledge of bills of material, routings, manufacturing procedures, tooling/fixture design, Lean Manufacturing / C.I. principles, NPI etc.
