Opportunity for an experienced Assistant Finance Manager/Accountant to join a well‑established, market leading £45m t/o manufacturing business based in St Helens. Reporting to the Finance Manager and working as the No 2 in finance over a team of Ledger Clerks and Credit Controllers, your remit will include:
- Overseeing day to day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations (Team of 5).
- Monthly Management Accounts preparation for the UK business and submission to the European Parent company.
- Supporting the month end and year end closing procedures.
- Prepare and review journal entries, financial reports and management reports.
- Stock reporting.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and internal accounting policies.
- Account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Accruals & Prepayments.
- Fixed Assets.
- Journals.
- Rebates.
- Cashflow reporting and cash management.
- HMRC submissions.
- Assisting with coordinating internal and external audits.
- Supporting the Finance Manager with ongoing process improvements and automation initiatives to meet evolving local and group demands.
Qualifications & Experience: Applicants will be experienced Accounts professionals with experience across most, if not all, of the bullet points above. The Finance Manager is flexible re applicants having finance qualifications as she considers personality, experience and previous supervisory experience the most important things she is looking for. Study support will be available for those working towards AAT, CIMA or ACCA. Applicants who working for SME businesses in the manufacturing sector will be of particular interest.

As the business continues to grow the Finance Manager expects her role to progress up to FC/FD level with the applicant securing this Assistant Finance Manager role stepping up to Finance Manager. Salary range £33-38k, with benefits including Bonus, 20 days annual leave + Bank Hols, 3% pension and excellent prospects. Onsite parking. 8:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday. Office based - No Hybrid working. Applicants must have full and indefinite eligibility to work in the UK (through being a UK citizen or having gained ILR) and should live within a sensible commute of Warrington.
