Temp‑to‑Perm Financial Controller opportunity with a well‑established Merseyside business in the Leisure/Retail sector. The role reports directly to the CEO, manages a Financial Accountant, and works alongside the Finance Manager leading the management accounts team.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual group financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
  • Consolidation of financial results for all subsidiaries and business units.
  • Timely and accurate reporting to internal stakeholders, external auditors, shareholders, lenders and other regulatory bodies.
  • Playing a key role in the Group's budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with all UK tax regulations and accounting standards.
  • Working with the Group's external tax advisors to comply with UK CT tax filing obligations.
  • Managing the relationship with external auditors and overseeing the annual audit process.
  • Ongoing development of internal financial controls to meet business demands.
  • Overseeing the Group's cash flow, working capital, and liquidity position to ensure financial stability.
  • Managing relationships with banks and other financial institutions.
  • Working as a key financial advisor to senior leadership, providing recommendations to support decision‑making.

Qualifications

Preference for a practice‑trained ACA or ACCA qualified Financial Controller/Senior level Financial Accountant. CIMA finance professionals with comparable experience are also considered. Practice‑trained professionals with industry experience are preferred, though first‑time movers may be considered depending on experience.

Position is permanent, with preference for candidates available immediately or with short notice to allow a handover with the incumbent (3 months notice).

Salary & Benefits

£70‑80k salary, pension contributions matched up to 8%, 25 days holiday, hybrid working (3 days office, 2 days home) and on‑site parking.

Applicants must have full and indefinite eligibility to work in the UK (UK citizen or ILR) and should live within a sensible commute of Liverpool.
