The opportunity:

We are looking for a talented and experienced Product Technologist to join our Product Compliance team. Reporting to the Head of Global Product Compliance, you will manage the safety and legislative aspects of product development, ensuring products meet all applicable UK, EU and Global standards and regulations. This is a hands-on role that combines technical expertise, product testing, stakeholder management and regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Product Technologist to play a key role in ensuring Paladone's products meet all applicable safety, legislative and quality requirements. Working closely with Product Development, Design, Supply Chain, Logistics, Suppliers and external laboratories, you will support products from concept through to launch and beyond, helping to maintain the highest standards of product integrity and compliance.

What are key duties of the role?

  • Product Development & Compliance: Partner with Product Development teams during concept stages to assess compliance requirements and testing implications. Identify product risks and recommend practical solutions to support commercial development. Review samples to assess safety, quality and legislative compliance. Advise on packaging requirements, labelling, symbols and mandatory product information. Approve products against applicable UK, EU and global regulations.
  • Testing & Product Approval: Define testing requirements and work closely with external laboratories. Liaise with suppliers and factories regarding product testing programmes. Monitor testing schedules and communicate progress across departments. Ensure all products are appropriately tested and compliant before shipment approval. Manage ongoing compliance activities, including test renewals and expiry tracking.
  • Technical Documentation & Legislation: Complete Safety Assessments and GPSR risk assessments. Create and maintain technical files and compliance documentation. Read and interpret laboratory test reports. Complete customer declarations and technical submissions. Upload and manage compliance documentation on customer portals. Keep abreast of changes to UK, EU and global legislation and communicate impacts internally.
  • Product Safety & Continuous Improvement: Respond to customer compliance enquiries. Investigate product quality and safety concerns. Support corrective action initiatives and compliance improvements. Act as a key contact for Trading Standards and other regulatory bodies. Support environmental compliance activities including WEEE, batteries and packaging regulations.

What we need you to bring to the team:

  • Experience working within an FMCG, consumer products, giftware, toy, manufacturing or retail products environment.
  • Experience working within Product Compliance, Product Safety, Product Testing or a similar technical role.
  • Strong understanding of product safety legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulations including, but not limited to, EN71, EMC, RoHS, REACH, ASTM, CPSC, CPSIA, Cal Prop 65.
  • Familiarity with WEEE and battery legislation.
  • Experience reviewing packaging requirements, warnings and symbols.
  • Ability to interpret technical reports and regulatory documentation.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with suppliers, manufacturers and testing laboratories.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience using Navision or a similar ERP systems & AI Programmes (CoPilot) would be beneficial.
