This very rewarding position ensures the safety of students and pedestrians during designated periods throughout the school day. This is a vital role that requires commitment and dedication in order to maintain a secure environment and foster a positive relationship with the community.
Position: School Crossing Guard
Site: Lorne and Adelaide
Status: Casual/On-Call
Hours: Monday - Friday (0730 - 0820 & 1430 - 1520)
Pay Rate: $20.50/hour
Responsibilities:
- Safely guide children across designated crosswalks during specific times of the school day
- Monitor traffic flow and adhere to safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with children, parents and motorists to ensure safety
- Report safety concerns or incidents promptly
- Provide a visible, reassuring and vigilant presence to ensure safety
Requirements:
- Provide a Negative London Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Provide Normal Audiology and Optometrist/Ophthalmologist Testing
- The ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to work outdoors in all types of weather
- Must be reliable and punctual
- Must be flexible and available on an On Call basis
- Have the ability to remain calm and focused in potentially stressful situations
- Customer Service experience is an asset
- Experience interacting with youth and children is an asset
- Experience with community-based role(s) is an asset
- Access to a vehicle is an asset
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Working Hours:
- 2-3 hours per day (10 hours per week)
- 1 hour shifts up to 3 times a day
- Morning shifts between 7:30am and 9:30am depending on location
- Lunch shifts between 10:30am and 2:00pm depending on location
- After School shifts between 2:30pm and 4:30pm depending on location
