Site Description: Westmount Mall is a multi-tenant retail shopping centre serving the local community, featuring a variety of retail stores, services, and common areas. The site includes indoor public spaces, tenant storefronts, food services, and parking areas that accommodate high volumes of daily visitors. With consistent public traffic and special events, the mall requires an organized environment that supports customer safety, accessibility, and smooth day-to-day operations.
Position: Seasonal Full Time Security Guard
Site Name: Westmount Mall
Address: 785 Wonderland Road South, London, Ontario, N6K 1M6
Hours: Monday to Friday (10AM to 4PM)
Pay Rate: $19/hour
Job Duties:
- The security guard is responsible for monitoring the entrance area to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- This includes preventing and addressing any unauthorized or illegal activities, such as public consumption of alcohol, use of illicit substances, or other prohibited behaviors.
- Stay vigilant during high-traffic periods, especially during high school lunch breaks.
- Monitor behaviour and address rowdy or inappropriate conduct.
- Enforce the mall’s Code of Conduct and Trespass to Property Act (TPA), asking individuals to leave when necessary.
- Respond quickly to incidents and calls for service.
- Maintain clear communication with the team and complete detailed incident reports.
- Use and manage security equipment such as radios.
Prerequisites:
- Valid Ontario Security License
- Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
- Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Mental Health Act
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position. Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
