Site Description: Fanshawe College is a public post-secondary institution located in London, Ontario, serving a diverse population of students, employees, contractors, and visitors. The campus consists of academic buildings, student service areas, residences, recreational facilities, parking lots, and outdoor common spaces, creating a busy environment with activity throughout the day and evening. With consistent foot traffic during the academic year and campus events, the college requires a well-maintained environment that supports safety, accessibility, and efficient day-to-day operations.
Position: Casual Security Guard
Site: Fanshawe College (Main campus)
Site Address: 1001 Fanshawe College Blvd.
Hours: TBD (depending on the events)
Payrate: $20/hour
Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement – calculating after 88 hours bi-weekly

Key responsibilities:
- Security Guards assigned to Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) events are responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment while providing professional customer service to all attendees.
- Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout the event.
- Control designated entry and exit points, manage lineups, conduct bag inspections when required, and verify government-issued identification and event eligibility.
- Monitor attendee behaviour, enforce Fanshawe College and FSU policies and procedures, and respond promptly to incidents or safety concerns.
- Use de-escalation techniques whenever possible and accurately document all incidents.
- Report incidents, policy violations, and safety concerns to the Event Organizer, and coordinate with College staff and emergency services when required.
- Fanshawe Student Union typically hosts 2 to 4 campus events per month. All assigned Security Guards are expected to arrive on time, wear the complete Paladin uniform, carry all required equipment, and conduct themselves professionally at all times while on duty.
Prerequisites:
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
- Smart Serve Certification
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred
- Must possess excellent customer service skills
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications must opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
