We are seeking a Chemical Regulatory and Compliance Officer to ensure our manufacturing operations comply with national and international chemical, environmental, and sustainability regulations.

This role involves monitoring and interpreting regulatory requirements, maintaining compliance documentation, and working cross-functionally to ensure all chemical products and processes meet legal and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will have expertise in chemical compliance, sustainability practices, and Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant chemical, HSE and environmental regulations such as REACH, OSHA, TSCA, CLP, GHS, EPA, FDA, and ISO 14001.
  • Environmental & Sustainability Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to environmental laws, sustainability regulations, and corporate sustainability goals, including carbon footprint reduction strategies.
  • GHG Emissions Reporting: Manage Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions tracking and reporting, supporting corporate sustainability initiatives.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain and update regulatory compliance documentation, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventories, sustainability reports, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments related to chemical handling, hazardous materials, and environmental impact.
  • Liaison & Communication: Act as the point of contact with regulatory agencies, sustainability organisations, and internal stakeholders on regulatory compliance and environmental matters.
  • Training & Guidance: Provide regulatory and sustainability training to employees on chemical safety, environmental compliance, and corporate sustainability policies.
  • Audits & Inspections: Prepare for and support regulatory audits, sustainability assessments, and compliance reviews.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement chemical safety, environmental, and sustainability policies aligned with legal requirements and corporate goals.
  • Monitoring & Updates: Stay up to date with evolving chemical, environmental, and sustainability regulations, advising management on necessary changes and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Biochemistry, Toxicology, or a related field in Regulatory Affairs.
  • Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in chemical regulatory compliance and environmental sustainability within a manufacturing industry (e.g., chemical, pharmaceutical, industrial, or food manufacturing) or regulatory body.
  • Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of chemical regulations (REACH, GHS, OSHA, TSCA, etc.).
  • Expertise in environmental compliance and sustainability frameworks (ISO 14001, ESG, GHG Protocol, and carbon footprint reporting).
  • Skills:
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting, sustainability software, and data analysis tools is a plus.

Additional helpful qualifications and experience:

  • Certifications in regulatory compliance or sustainability (e.g., RAC, CIH, CSP, LEED).
  • Experience working with government agencies and sustainability organizations.
  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Circular Economy principles.
