This is an exciting opportunity to lead SEND across all three of our schools. As Trust SENDCo, you will be the designated SENCO for each school under the SEND Code of Practice 2015, overseeing provision day to day and shaping its strategic development with the CEO and Heads of School.
You will:
- lead the graduated approach (assess, plan, do, review) for pupils on SEN support, and quality-assure Individual Support Plans
- identify pupils who may need an Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment, and prepare high-quality applications and evidence
- lead annual reviews for every pupil with an EHC plan, on time and properly recorded
- be the key contact for parents and carers, and involve them at every stage
- train, support and lead staff, including those delivering interventions, and observe and give feedback on SEND provision and adaptive teaching
- liaise with the local authority, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, health, social care and other agencies
- support smooth transitions into and out of our schools for pupils with SEND
- keep accurate, detailed SEND records and write termly reports on provision and outcomes
- help the Trust meet its duties under the Equality Act 2010, including reasonable adjustments and access arrangements
- lead on English as an additional language (EAL), keeping this distinct from SEND
The full job description is included in the application pack.
Hours
Four full school days, Monday to Thursday, divided across the three schools as agreed with the CEO. This is a non-class-based leadership role, in line with the SEND Code of Practice expectation that a shared SENCO should not carry a significant teaching commitment.
What we offer
- the chance to shape SEND provision across a whole trust
- small, friendly schools with a strong ethos and pupils who behave well
- direct access to senior leadership, and the support of three Heads of School
- a commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) for all staff, including support to complete the NPQ for SENCOs where needed
Interview date: From Wednesday 4 November 2026
