Reporting to the Headteacher (School) and Head of College, the Informal Jewish Educator will lead and coordinate high-quality, inclusive informal Jewish education across Kisharon School and Langdon College.

They will design and deliver meaningful Jewish experiences that are accessible to learners with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, ensuring that every pupil and student can engage with Jewish life, identity, values and community in a way that is relevant and developmentally appropriate.

The role is central to strengthening Jewish ethos, enhancing spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, and promoting a sense of belonging and pride in Jewish identity.

The Informal Jewish Educator will create opportunities for celebration, reflection, leadership and community participation, ensuring provision is inclusive of all learners and sensitive to diverse needs.

What will you do

  • Lead the planning and delivery of a coherent, engaging programme of informal Jewish education across both settings.
  • Plan and deliver activities to mark Jewish festivals, key dates and commemorations in ways that are accessible and meaningful for pupils and students with SEND.
  • Contribute to pupils’ and students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through creative and experiential provision.
  • Develop opportunities for learner voice and leadership within Jewish life, adapted appropriately or different communication and cognitive needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong links with local synagogues, Jewish organisations and community groups to enrich provision.
  • Organise and coordinate visits, visitors and community events that strengthen Jewish identity and belonging.

You will have

  • Strong evidence of Jewish learning and secure knowledge of Jewish texts, traditions, festivals and practice.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Training in safeguarding and child protection or willingness to undertake this immediately.
  • Experience of working with children or young people in an educational, youth or community setting.
  • Experience of planning and delivering engaging informal, experiential or enrichment activities.
