About the Role

As Headteacher, you will provide warm and visionary professional, operational and strategic leadership. You will oversee the management of our outstanding 80 place nursery which welcomes children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years, ensuring the highest standards of childcare, education, welfare and safeguarding. You will continue to build a high-quality learning environment where every child flourishes and is encouraged to play, explore and thrive in a nurturing and stimulating setting in which our Progressive Jewish ethos is interwoven into all that we do.

You will work closely in collaboration with Trustees, families, staff and the wider community to continue building a culture of outstanding practice and innovation.

Salary/Hours of Work

40 hours per week on a rota basis to cover the opening hours of the nursery between the hours of 7.45am and 6.30 pm, Monday to Friday throughout the year.

Salary: £55,000 to £65,000 depending on qualifications and leadership experience

Permanent and Full Time

5 weeks holiday per annum, plus bank holidays and Jewish holidays observed by The Movement for Progressive Judaism

Provisional start date of 1 April 2027

You will be responsible for:

• Leading and inspiring a team of dedicated early years professionals
• Managing staff professional development and training
• Ensuring exceptional standards of care and learning and supporting children’s personal, emotional, social development
• Embedding the EYFS curriculum within a Progressive Jewish ethos
• Leading the successful operational and financial management of the nursery
• Driving continuous school improvement and strategic development
• Maintaining Ofsted standards
• Overseeing safeguarding of the children as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Building strong partnerships with parents, carers, trustees and external agencies
• Liaising with partner synagogues, their clergy and the wider Jewish community.

About You

You will be:

• An experienced leader within an early years setting
• Qualified to Level 3 or above in Early Years
• Enthusiastic about embracing, integrating and promoting our Progressive Jewish values and ethos
• Highly motivated and focussed on the success of child development and inclusive education
• Committed to building strong, respectful, warm and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
• Able to competently manage nursery finances, budget and operations
• Confident leading teams, inspiring excellence and managing change
• Knowledgeable in EYFS, safeguarding and current early years legislation

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Early Years Teacher Status / QTS / EYP
• NPQEYL or other leadership qualification
• Experience working in a Jewish educational setting
