The Business Development Executive is responsible for managing and growing existing customer accounts, converting marketing-generated leads, and proactively developing new business opportunities within the 3.5T commercial vehicle market. This role combines strong relationship management with structured business development and close collaboration with the Marketing team to deliver customer-specific, account-based sales campaigns. The successful candidate will take a proactive, customer-focused approach and represent the company professionally at customer sites, industry events, and exhibitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow existing customer accounts to maximise retention, satisfaction, and account value.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring timely, professional communication.
- Convert marketing-generated leads and manage opportunities through the full sales lifecycle.
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within the 3.5T commercial vehicle market.
- Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through direct outreach, networking, and market research.
- Develop tailored proposals and quotations aligned with customer needs and commercial objectives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activity, opportunities, and forecasts within HubSpot CRM.
- Provide regular reports on pipeline performance, lead conversion, and customer insights.
- Work closely with the Marketing team on account-based campaigns, lead generation activity, and customer-specific content.
- Collaborate with internal teams including production, design, procurement, and aftersales to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Represent the company professionally during customer visits, industry events, trade shows, and exhibitions.
- Gather and share market and competitor intelligence to support commercial strategy and continuous improvement.
Skills, Experience & Attributes
Qualifications (Desirable)
- Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Institute of Sales Management (ISM) qualification.
- Account Management diplomas.
Experience & Skills
- Experience in B2B sales, account management, or business development (commercial vehicle industry preferred).
- Proven ability to manage a sales pipeline and achieve revenue targets.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive approach to generating new business and managing existing accounts.
- Understanding of CRM or ERP systems and sales reporting dashboards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) with strong general IT skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
