About Paired

At Paired, we're on a mission to help couples stay in love. So we created a fun, safe space for couples to explore their relationship and grow together - both digitally and in real life. Backed by expert advice and research, our app delivers engaging questions, games, and quizzes that improve key relationship skills in 5 minutes a day. Alongside this, we offer a growing range of physical products for couples, extending our brand beyond the screen and into everyday moments of connection. Our app is the #1 couples app globally with more than 12M downloads, 250,000 daily active users, and £5M of fundraising to date. We've won multiple awards from Apple and Google, recognising us for our innovative approach to romantic relationship health.

About the Role

We're looking for a Lead Product Designer to join our Product team, shaping experiences that help couples feel more connected, both in the app and in real life. You'll design features that deepen intimacy, spark meaningful conversations and make Paired indispensable for couples. You'll lead design of the core app experience, turning concepts into high-quality, engaging features that drive retention and leave a lasting impression on users. We're looking for someone who has rigorous execution and exceptional craft. Working closely with Product, Engineering, Research and Content, you'll raise the bar for design quality, consistency and delight across the product, and help shape Paired's design culture. You'll have strong product thinking, thrive in ambiguity, and bring a human-centred approach to help uncover unmet needs of our users.

What You'll Do

  • Own end-to-end product design of the app alongside the Head of Design. From insight-led discovery and ideation, through to execution and post-launch iteration.
  • Translate business goals and requirements into user-centred, emotionally resonant solutions that drive measurable impact across engagement, retention and revenue.
  • Bring delight to everything you do — whether that's a micro animation, tasteful haptics usage, or by providing the user with something unexpected.
  • Identify new product features by deeply understanding our user's needs and lead ideation with bold concepts and prototypes.
  • Collaborate on running lean research with our UX Researcher, quickly testing to validate ideas, de-risk assumptions and inform decision-making.
  • Use AI and generative tools to rapidly prototype and visualise future states.
  • Articulate the value and potential of new product ideas through compelling narratives, and work hand-in-hand with developers to ship refined, high-quality UI.
  • Raise the design bar by modelling high standards of craft and mentoring peers, while evolving Paired's design system to ensure consistency at scale.

Requirements

  • You have a deep expertise in designing consumer-facing apps (ideally subscription-based, in related verticals such as femtech, health & wellness, education, or self-improvement).
  • You thrive in ambiguity and are proactive. You explore, prototype, and iterate to bring clarity and move forward.
  • You have a strategic mindset, thinking beyond the current feature and to where the product could be in 6/12/24 months time.
  • You are an expert in interaction design, with a refined grasp of micro-interactions and motion that elevate usability and create delightful, polished experiences.
  • You have a proven track record of using data and user research to understand user needs, and gather insights to justify and support design decisions.
  • You believe design is a team sport. You truly value feedback and actively seek it out rather than waiting until it's too late.
  • You default to prototyping when presenting your work.
  • You have experience using gamification techniques to delight users and move business metrics.
  • You understand that good design is often a journey to identify the right thing to build, using early concepts and prototypes to help build conviction along the way.
  • You have a portfolio of well-crafted, impactful work that solves real problems for real people.
  • You have a deep curiosity for the mobile app ecosystem and stay close to emerging platform capabilities, tools, and interaction patterns.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of £90k–£95k, depending on experience.
  • Significant stock options.
  • Annual learning budget of £1,000.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus public holidays.
  • Hybrid, 2 days per week in our Shoreditch office.
  • Three in-person events per year across Europe: two focused coworking weeks and one team-building retreat.
  • Comprehensive health insurance to support your physical and mental wellness.
  • 3 months paid maternity leave and 1 month paid paternity leave (including same-sex and adoptive parents).
  • Paired Premium for you and your partner to stay in love.
  • A rare opportunity to build a product that genuinely helps millions of people strengthen their relationships every day.

Hiring Process

  • Screening call with Jenna, Head of People (~30mins video call).
  • Intro chat with James, Head of Design (~45mins video call).
  • Design task — show us how you think and solve a problem, then present to the team.
  • Meet your team — chat with the founder and key members of your team (video call).
