This role offers the opportunity to lead and embed a first-line Financial Crime Quality Assurance capability within a regulated financial services environment. You will be responsible for strengthening the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of financial crime operations through a robust, risk-based QA programme. You will act as a critical control function across onboarding, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and ongoing due diligence processes, using assurance insights to drive operational improvements, reinforce governance, and support regulatory readiness.

What You’ll Do

  • QA & Control Oversight
    • Lead the design and execution of a first-line Quality Assurance framework across core financial crime processes including onboarding, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and ongoing due diligence.
    • Conduct independent reviews of operational case handling and decision-making to assess control effectiveness, consistency, and alignment with internal policies and regulatory expectations.
    • Identify knowledge gaps, procedural weaknesses, and control failures, providing structured feedback to operational teams, training functions, and policy owners to support ongoing uplift initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with operational, compliance, fraud, onboarding, and monitoring teams to strengthen financial crime controls, governance, and process execution across the business.
  • Reporting & Governance
    • Develop and maintain QA reporting and management information frameworks to provide visibility into trends, recurring issues, remediation activities, and control performance.
  • Audit & Regulatory Readiness
    • Support audit and regulatory preparedness by maintaining evidence-based QA outputs and tracking remediation efforts across financial crime operations.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in financial crime quality assurance, controls, or operational oversight within a regulated banking or financial services environment.
  • Regulatory Knowledge - Strong understanding of UK AML/CTF, sanctions, and fraud regulations, including familiarity with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
  • Control Frameworks - Deep knowledge of financial crime processes including KYC, CDD, onboarding, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and ongoing due diligence.
  • Risk-Based Decision Making - Experience using financial crime technology platforms and data-driven methodologies to support risk assessment and assurance activities.
  • Stakeholder Management - Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and clearly articulate operational and regulatory risks.
  • Change & Transformation - Demonstrated ability to lead operational improvements, framework enhancements, and quality uplift initiatives within fast-paced and evolving environments.
