Manager/Assistant Manager (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II/Executive Officer) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 537517) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree and have at least 8 years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably within the tertiary education sector. Prior experience in programme administration is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua. They should also possess strong organisational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail. The successful candidate should have a strong sense of responsibility, demonstrated maturity and professionalism, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines is essential. Strong leadership capabilities, together with a proactive and self-motivated approach to work, are also expected. Applicants with less experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Manager.
The appointee will take a leading operational role in managing the full spectrum of undergraduate programme administration in the Department. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day undergraduate academic programme operations and student affairs;
- Executing the operational plan, course logistics, and curriculum transitions for the revampedundergraduate programme and academic specializations;
- Assisting in liaison with external professional bodies, including the HKIE for professionalaccreditation and quality assurance;
- Facilitating administrative and logistical workflows between academic leads, teaching staff,and technical teams to support undergraduate laboratory activities and hands-onexperiential learning facilities;
- Planning, organizing, and executing student enrichment initiatives, co-curricular activities,and overseas learning opportunities;
- Providing executive secretarial and administrative support to departmental teaching committees, working groups, and curriculum task forces;
- Acting as the primary administrative bridge between internal and external stakeholders,including Faculty officers, Professoriate Leads, teaching staff, and external partnerorganizations; and
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
