We are looking for an outstanding, experienced Senior Consultant to join our talented and growing team of 60+ consultants. This is an exciting opportunity for an established public affairs professional who is already leading significant client relationships and has a proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders and delivering strategic public affairs programmes. We are looking for someone who brings both strategic judgement and hands-on delivery, with the confidence to lead significant accounts while contributing to the collaborative, integrated culture that defines Pagefield.

The person in this role will support our expanding portfolio of clients across a wide range of sectors, including technology, telecoms, financial services, transport, FMCG, property, infrastructure and not-for-profit.

ROLE OVERVIEW

This role is a senior public affairs position within an integrated communications consultancy. You’ll work across political engagement, strategic communications and integrated campaigns, collaborating with colleagues across public relations, digital and creative disciplines to deliver outstanding client outcomes. You’ll lead day-to-day client relationships, providing strategic counsel and overseeing the delivery of high-quality work across a diverse portfolio. Much of your work will focus on organisations operating in highly regulated sectors, helping clients navigate political, policy and reputational challenges. Experience advising clients in transport, telecommunications or other highly regulated industries would be particularly valuable.

You’ll bring an established network of political and stakeholder relationships across Westminster, Whitehall, Parliament and industry. Existing relationships across the Labour Party and wider Labour movement would be highly advantageous, as would contacts in the media. You’ll use your expertise to help clients understand political developments, shape engagement strategies and identify opportunities that support their objectives.

Alongside client work, you’ll contribute to business development, mentor junior colleagues and play an active role in Pagefield’s collaborative culture. Our company values are key to the success of our employees. Collaboratively familial, restlessly entrepreneurial, strategically connected, creatively impactful and intelligently challenging: you will embody each of these values, seeking out ways to showcase these within your role.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Lead day-to-day client work proactively, identifying opportunities to add value and anticipating next steps.
  • Manage Executives and Junior Executives, and oversee the timely delivery of client programmes, materials, and milestones.
  • Provide clients with political and policy intelligence, helping them understand the implications of Government priorities, parliamentary developments and stakeholder sentiment.
  • Lead political and policy analysis, producing strategic recommendations and helping clients navigate complex policy and political environments.
  • Draft high-quality contact reports, briefings, and media materials with minimal need for senior edits.

Networking & Contact Growth

  • Actively build and maintain a network of journalists, political contacts, and industry influencers.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Labour Government’s priorities, key decision-makers and policymaking processes.
  • Attend sector events to identify new contacts and potential leads for client and agency benefit.
  • Mentor junior colleagues in developing effective networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Deepen relationships across the media landscape, including business and national press.

New Business

  • Contribute to pitches and proposals, offering creative input and strong first drafts for tenders.
  • Help identify and develop new business leads through media insight, networking, and team brainstorms.
  • Act as an enthusiastic advocate for Pagefield and its clients in all professional settings.
  • Support agency marketing by securing media opportunities that raise Pagefield’s profile and thought leadership.

Client Servicing & Media Relations

  • Use media and political contacts to secure high-impact coverage and stakeholder engagement.
  • Shape campaigns through strategic media insight, narrative development, and news-cycle awareness.
  • Collaborate with consultants and senior leaders to craft compelling, newsworthy angles.
  • Deliver media training and tailored insight sessions to support client preparedness and visibility.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERTISE

  • A confident relationship-builder with a natural flair for turning connections internally and externally into long-term value.
  • Exceptional understanding of UK politics, Parliament, Whitehall, policymaking and the wider political landscape, together with a strong appreciation of how public affairs integrates with corporate communications.
  • A sharp and strategic storyteller who can spot media opportunities and knows exactly how and where to pitch.
  • A calm, adaptable operator who thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly.
  • A creative yet analytical thinker with strong copywriting skills and the ability to guide and upskill teams effectively.
  • Write to a high standard for external publication, including reports, press releases, op-eds and blog posts.
  • An understanding of digital branding and social media is desirable.
  • Demonstrate strong organisation and attention to detail, including managing.

Alongside a competitive salary and the opportunity to work as part of a close-knit and collegiate team, we offer:
