Job Description
- Develop and deliver an integrated communications strategy aligned to organisational priorities and objectives.
- Create compelling content and campaigns that showcase organisational impact, achievements and partnerships.
- Act as a trusted adviser to the executive leadership team on communications, reputation and stakeholder engagement matters.
- Lead media relations, digital communications, social media activity and proactive storytelling initiatives.
- Manage crisis communications planning and response, ensuring reputational risks are effectively mitigated.
- Drive internal communications and employee engagement programmes to support organisational culture and change initiatives.
- Use audience insight, analytics and performance data to measure and improve communications effectiveness.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing communications team, promoting innovation and continuous improvement.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Interim Head of Communications should have:
- Significant experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans within complex organisations.
- Proven track record of leading both internal and external communications functions.
- Strong experience in reputation management, media relations and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrable success advising senior executives and influencing at leadership level.
- Experience managing teams, budgets and multiple communications priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into engaging content.
- Strong understanding of digital communications, social media strategy and audience engagement.
- Degree educated or equivalent, with a professional communications qualification (e.g. CIPR) considered advantageous.
