Job Description
The Locum Probate Solicitor will be:
- Managing probate files and administering estates (grants, full administration, estates with or without wills)
- Advising executors or administrators on the probate process, estate administration, Inheritance Tax, and related matters
- Reviewing wills, trusts, and inheritance documentation to ensure compliance and correct execution
- Communicating with beneficiaries, executors, HMRC (for tax issues) and other stakeholders
- Drafting legal documents including Grant applications, estate accounts, deeds of variation, letters of administration
- Liaising with other departments (e.g. conveyancing, trusts) if necessary to support complex estates
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and firm standards
- Providing clear, professional client communication and guidance throughout the probate process
The Successful Applicant
The Locum Probate Solicitor should be:
- A qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with relevant probate experience
- Experienced handling probate, estate administration, grants of probate/letters of administration, Inheritance Tax matters etc.
- Available immediately for a 1-2 month locum assignment
- Comfortable working part‑time (3-4 days/week) and able to work in a hybrid model
- Organised, efficient and client‑focused, with strong communication skills
