Job Description

  • Strategic Business Partnering
    • Provide strategic financial partnership to the Commercial Director and Senior Leadership Team, offering insight, challenge and support for key decisions.
    • Support bids and strategic opportunities by providing financial analysis and commercial input to tenders.
    • Challenging assumptions and influencing outcomes with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Financial Control & Reporting
    • Lead P&L and cashflow management in collaboration with the Commercial Director and QS teams.
    • Maintain accurate project financial reporting, including cost tracking, budget monitoring, margin analysis, WIP and accruals.
    • Ensure CVR accuracy by identifying and resolving discrepancies, including outdated accruals in CVR and Business Central system.
  • Management Accounts
    • Manage the Fixed Asset Register, including additions, disposal and depreciations.
    • Producing and interpreting monthly management account with variance analysis.
    • Own the month-end close process, including accruals, prepayments and staff allocations.
    • Conduct overhead variance analysis to identify trends and cost drivers.
    • Manage intercompany accounts and ensure accurate reconciliations.
    • Prepare monthly business unit reporting packs for senior review.
    • Prepare & Reconcile VAT returns and ensure timely submission.
    • Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts including intercompany balances, resolving queries.
    • Support the audit process by preparing documentation and evidence.
    • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes.
    • System - Root cause analysis - investigating underlying problems and implementing long-term solutions.
    • Providing support to the Finance department as required.

The Successful Applicant

  • Fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA).
  • Proven experience working in a similar role in the housebuilding or construction sector.
  • Strong technical grounding.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Organised, proactive and solutions-focused.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
