Job Description
- Lead the tax team and oversee all UK and international tax compliance and planning.
- Develop and implement tax strategy across a complex group structure, including subsidiaries and joint ventures.
- Provide expert advice on VAT, SDLT, employment taxes, and corporation tax, with a focus on VAT.
- Engage with HMRC and external advisors to ensure compliance and influence policy.
- Drive cultural change across the organisation to embed tax awareness and best practices.
- Support major capital projects, international partnerships, and research initiatives with strategic tax input.
- Represent the organisation in sector bodies and government consultations.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Head of Tax will be:
- Professionally qualified in tax (ATT, CTA part-qualified or equivalent), with significant post-qualification experience.
- Deep expertise in indirect tax, with strong knowledge of direct and international tax.
- Proven experience in large, complex organisations or professional practice.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, including influencing at board level and with HMRC.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing high-performing teams and driving cultural change.
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, with a proactive and strategic mindset.
