Job Description:

This full-time role represents an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor to join a talented and friendly team. This position offers an excellent salary, many incredible benefits, and the opportunity to explore flexible working arrangements. You will work with a talented team to assist in providing pragmatic and commercially sound legal advice via a business partnering arrangement to the business on its global portfolio of projects whilst developing relationships with internal business stakeholders as well as our clients and collaborators to mitigate the business' risks.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing sound and timely legal and commercial advice to mitigate commercial and contractual risks on the company's global portfolio of projects.
  • Reviewing, reporting on, negotiating and finalising a wide range of contractual documentation (including but not limited to consultancy appointments and sub-consultancy agreements, collateral warranties, novation agreements, letters of intent).
  • Advising the business to ensure that the company's governance policies are adhered to in contract negotiations and assisting to make a case for any deviations to the governance policies where necessary.
  • Assisting the business in the proper operation and administration of its contracts and legal framework.
  • Assisting in the provision of training to the business to promote awareness on a range of legal and commercial issues relevant to the industry and projects.
  • Assisting with developing and implementing systems, processes and procedures to enhance the efficiency of the Commercial and Legal team and the company as a whole.
  • Ensuring appropriate, timely and proportionate support is provided to the Project Directors and Partners in closing out contractual negotiations and any further contract interpretation and administration assistance during project delivery.
  • Working collaboratively and liaising with other business service functions as necessary to ensure an inclusive, collaborative approach to resolving issues.

The Successful Applicant:

The successful candidate will be a Lawyer, qualified in England & Wales (or an equivalent Common Law Jurisdiction). They will likely have between 2-5 years post qualification experience (based on the remuneration and work on offer for this role).

Essential:

  • Experience in construction law and the construction industry is essential with preferably demonstrable experience in general commercial law.
  • Experience of drafting and reviewing contracts.

Preferable:

  • In-house experience.
