Job Description

  • Managing probate files and administering estates (grants, full administration, estates with or without wills).
  • Advising executors or administrators on the probate process, estate administration, Inheritance Tax, and related matters.
  • Reviewing wills, trusts, and inheritance documentation to ensure compliance and correct execution.
  • Communicating with beneficiaries, executors, HMRC (for tax issues) and other stakeholders.
  • Drafting legal documents including Grant applications, estate accounts, deeds of variation, letters of administration.
  • Liaising with other departments (e.g. conveyancing, trusts) if necessary to support complex estates.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and firm standards.
  • Providing clear, professional client communication and guidance throughout the probate process.

The Successful Applicant

  • A qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with relevant probate experience.
  • Experienced handling probate, estate administration, grants of probate/letters of administration, Inheritance Tax matters etc.
  • Available immediately for a 1-2 month locum assignment.
  • Comfortable working part‑time (3-4 days/week) and able to work in a hybrid model.
  • Organised, efficient and client‑focused, with strong communication skills.
