Job Description
As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in the day‑to‑day coordination and optimisation of vehicle movements within a busy freight environment. Reporting to the Transport Manager, you'll ensure that all transport operations run smoothly, safely, and cost‑effectively. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Planning and scheduling vehicle routes for collections and deliveries within strict timeframes
- Liaising with drivers, warehouse teams, and external stakeholders to ensure efficient execution of transport plans
- Monitoring fleet utilisation and performance, adjusting plans in real time where necessary
- Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, health & safety, and company standards
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting documentation within the transport management system
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency
The Successful Applicant
To be successful in this role as Transport Planner, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in transport planning, ideally within a freight, logistics, or air cargo environment
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Sound understanding of transport compliance, driver regulations, and route planning systems
- Proficiency in MS Office and transport management software (TMS)
- Flexibility to work shifts or weekends as required in a 24 / 7 operation
