    Job Description

  • Lead the organisation\’s financial strategy, and ensure systems and processes support growth and sustainability.
  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, cashflow and year‑end processes.
  • Provide financial insight, analysis and forecasting to support decision‑making and long‑term planning.
  • Ensure compliance with UK charity finance regulations, SORP.
  • Manage audits, statutory reporting, internal controls and financial policies.
  • Deliver accurate, timely internal reporting to maintain financial health and compliance.
  • Oversee payroll and ensure all statutory payments are made on time.
  • Monitor and manage financial risk, maintaining relevant sections of the risk register.
  • Oversee procurement, contracts and property assets including leases.
  • Lead and develop the Finance team, fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage daily finance operations and build financial capability across the organisation by working with budget holders and senior leaders.
  • Support fundraising by contributing financial input to grant applications.
  • Oversee systems infrastructure, outsourced IT contracts and ensure systems are secure, compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Drive digital improvements, including integration of finance systems and CRM platforms.
  • The Successful Applicant

    A successful Finance Manager should have:

  • A professional qualification in accounting or finance (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Proven experience in financial management and systems oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of charity finance governance, compliance and regulations (SORP, Charity Commission, HMRC).
  • Experience with mid‑range accounting systems.
  • Significant senior finance experience, ideally in the charity sector.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience building high‑performing teams and driving change.
  • Experience improving internal controls, financial policies and reporting systems.
  • Strong budgeting, financial planning and strategic financial management skills.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong senior‑level relationship‑building capability.
  • Experienced in team management and development in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Understanding and alignment with organisational values.
