Our client is a Consultancy operating across a range of sectors, including data centres.
They would like to recruit a permanent Principal Designer to join their thriving London team.
The role is hybrid with approximately 3 days in their central London offices.
Role:
- To plan, manage and monitor the Pre-Construction phase, to co-ordinate Health & Safety.
- Fulfil the duties of the Principal Designer as defined under CDM 2015 including where necessary carrying out the role of CDM-Advisor to support the client.
- Ensure that multiple team members and duty holders such as the client, designers, contractors and other internal multidisciplinary team members.
- Assist the client in identifying, obtaining and collating the pre-construction information.
- Ensure that designers comply with their duties and co-operate with each other.
- Undertake and co-ordinate safety by design review workshops producing a meaningful Design Risk Assessment in collaboration with the design team. A strong design risk mitigation is essential.
- Attend client meetings during all phases of the project and advise the client and design team on Health & Safety guidelines.
- Guide the Design team and client through Health & Safety requirements and RIBA Stages.
- Review of Principal Contractors information, including:
- Construction Phase Health & Safety plan
- Prepare the Health & Safety file
- Submit F10 on behalf of client
- Undertake CDM site audits on behalf of client
- Undertake lessons learned workshops
- Undertake audits
Experience:
- At least 5 yearsβ experience in a similar role with a focus on Construction Design Management.
- Data Centre and/or large scale infrastructure project experience would be preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of MEP building services would be useful.
- NEBOSH Diploma beneficial.
- Ideally to have experience of appropriate H&S procedures in an engineering consultancy environment in the construction.
- Ideally to have working knowledge and experience of the UK Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and their applicability to design consultants in the built environment.
- Good understanding of British Standards.
- Working knowledge of CDM, PUWER, COSHH, LOLER, MHSWR, BSA Regulations.
