We are looking for an experienced Electrical Contract Manager to join our MEP Building Services Engineering Contractor Client’s Projects Team in Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role within a business renowned for delivering high-quality building services projects.
As an Electrical Contract Manager, you will report directly to the Operations Manager and take full ownership of multiple projects—covering traditional and Design & Build schemes. You will be responsible for planning, procurement, delivery, financial performance, and client satisfaction, ensuring safe and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of electrical projects from pre-construction through to handover.
- Manage project planning, resourcing, budgets, and timelines.
- Conduct site visits, surveys, client meetings, inspections, and handovers (travel and overnight stays may be required).
- Provide guidance, support, and leadership to project teams, monitoring performance and development.
- Oversee procurement of materials, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency.
- Manage the customer relationship, handling expectations and resolving disputes.
- Prepare and present Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) forecasts to management.
- Liaise with Design, Estimating, and Subcontract teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Drive performance improvements and promote continuous development within the operations team.
- Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety, statutory testing, and industry standards (IEE, NICEIC, JCT, NEC etc.).
- Maintain accurate project documentation, permits to work, and compliance registers.
- Identify and maximise opportunities for extra works and revenue growth.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Core electrical qualifications (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds).
- Ideally, HNC / HND in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Contract Manager or Project Manager.
- Strong background in Health & Safety management, including CDM Regulations.
- Commercially astute with excellent financial and project management skills.
- Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
- Ability to lead teams, manage change, and deliver projects successfully under pressure.
