I'm working on an urgent Interim Finance Director opportunity with a commercially driven charitable organisation going through significant transformation. This is a medium sized children's health charity.
Finance Function Transformation
- Assess current team structure (22 people) and define target operating model
- Drive improved performance, accountability, and outputs
- Identify inefficiencies and lead potential restructure / downsizing
- Address capability gaps and performance issues decisively
Systems Optimisation
- Fully embed and optimise Microsoft Business Central
- Drive adoption and efficiency (current underutilisation)
- Partner with internal Digital, Data & Tech team (strong capability in place)
Leadership & Culture
- Build a high-performance culture
- Coach and develop existing leadership
- Manage difficult conversations and exits where required
- Reduce over-reliance on key individuals
Strategic & Commercial Impact
- Support development of the 5-year plan
- Provide strong commercial insight and challenge
- Partner closely with senior leadership, including incoming Treasurer
- Improve finance's influence across the organisation
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Break down silos, particularly with Fundraising
- Enable better data, insight, and financial support for growth initiatives
Profile
Essential Experience
- Proven number 1 in finance / transformation leader
- Strong experience in team restructuring and performance turnaround
- Ability to operate at pace and influence a high-performing exec team
- Experience in Charity / SORP accounting
- Strong systems mindset (Business Central desirable, not essential)
Desirable
- Exposure to fundraising-led organisations
- Experience working with Dynamics CRM
- Commercial/entrepreneurial mindset within a not-for-profit environment
